The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The December 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 1st Dec 2015 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This months guest readers are Marian O'Rourke and Michael Durack. Marian O'Rourke was born in Limerick and spent most of her life in North America. Her poems have been published in a variety of journals and anthologies in Ireland, England and Canada. She has read her work on WBAI (New York C... ity)and Lyric FM and has performed at poetry events in Ireland, England and The United States. Uprooted, her first poetry book, was published by Horn Press in 2008 and Inhaling the Light by Lapwing Press in 2009. Her short stories have been accepted by Sunday Miscellany. Marian holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from The Waterford Institute of Technology. She is currently working on her third poetry collection. Mike Durack was a founder member of’ Killaloe Writers Group.

The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The July 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 7th July 2015 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This months guests are former Limerick City writer in residence John Liddy and brothers Austin and Mike Durack. John Liddy was born Youghal, Co Cork, Ireland (1954), grew up in Limerick, took a degree in the University of Wales, works as a teacher in Madrid. He is the founding editor along with Jim Burke of The Stony Thursday Book, one of Ireland’s longest running literary reviews, along with Cyphers. During Limerick City of Culture 2014 he was one of our writers in residence. Austin and Mike Durack, will present pieces from their recently released album "Going Gone" that includes poems by Mike and instrumental originals by Austin. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The June 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 2nd June 2015 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This months guests are writers Mike Gallagher and John McGrath. Mike Gallagher , writer, poet and editor, was born on Achill Island and worked in London for forty years before retiring to Kerry. His prose, poetry, haiku and songs have been published in Ireland and throughout Europe, America, Australia, Nepal, India, Thailand, Japan and Canada. His writing has been translated into Croatian, Japanese, Dutch, German and Chinese. He won the 2009 Samhlaiocht Slam, the 2010 Michael Hartnett Viva Voce competition, he was shortlisted for the Hennessy Award in 2011 and won the Desmond O'Grady International Poetry Contest in 2012. This months guests are poets Ann Marie Kennedy and Evan Cosigan and special guest from the USA Robert Fanning. Anne Marie Kennedy , has an MA in Writing from NUI Galway and is the winner of the Molly Keane Creative Writing Award 2014. She is an award winning performance poet. Her prose and poetry has been published in ROPES, Blackheart Magazine, the Colony, the Galway Review, Irish Central, the SHOp ,and Boyne Berries among others. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The April 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 7th April. 2015 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar , Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This months guests are Cork poet Patricia Walsh and poet Mícheál O’Siochrú. Mícheál O’Siochrú is a native of Baile an Sceilg Gaeltacht, South Kerry. He has written extensively in the Irish language and has had two collections of poetry and a novel published by Coiscéim. His poetry has won various Oireachtas prizes as well as first prize at Listowel Writers’ Week. A renowned Irish teacher, he has taught in Rosary Hill and Vocational School, Castleconnell, Co Limerick, in Villiers, St. Clement’s and Limerick Tutorial Colleges as well as in Mary Immaculate College. This month guest readers Cork poet Colm Scully and writer Kathleen Thorne. Colm Scully is from Cork where he lives with his wife and three children.
