The April 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering

Tuesday 7th April. 2015 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp!

This months guests are Cork poet Patricia Walsh and poet Mícheál O’Siochrú.

Mícheál O’Siochrú is a native of Baile an Sceilg Gaeltacht, South Kerry. He has written extensively in the Irish language and has had two collections of poetry and a novel published by Coiscéim. His poetry has won various Oireachtas prizes as well as first prize at Listowel Writers’ Week.

A renowned Irish teacher, he has taught in Rosary Hill and Vocational School, Castleconnell, Co Limerick, in Villiers, St. Clement’s and Limerick Tutorial Colleges as well as in Mary Immaculate College.
His third poetry collection in English is an intriguing journey from the pandemonium of the opening poem “The Attic” to the silence of “Healing Room” and was published last month

Patricia Walsh was born and raised in the parish of Mourne abbey, Co Cork. Her previous publications include a collection of poetry, called Continuity Errors, published by Lapwing publications in 2010, and a novel, The Quest for Lost Eire, published in 2014, in addition to being published in a range of journals. She is currently working on her second collection of poetry and a second novel.

Start 8pm This month our guests are writers Neil Donnelly and Linda Louise Galvin. Neil Donnelly was born in Tullamore, Co Offaly. He is a playwright, poet, screenwriter and writer for radio. His screenplays include Upstarts, The Silver Dollar Boys, The Duty Master. He was a Harvey's Award winner in 1982, writer-in-residence for Mayo County Council in 1993, and writer-in-association at the Abbey Theatre in 1994. Tullamore Train his debut poetry collection was published in 2011. His documentary on the life of Aidan Higgins 'Where Would You Like the Bullet?' is in progre ss. He is a member of Aosdana. Linda Louise Galvin is from Limerick. She began writing seven years ago by writing song lyrics, eventually focusing mainly on poetry. Her work straddles a diverse range of taboo subjects and humour. This months guests are poet Christine Breo and brothers Austin and Mike Durack. ... Christine Broe has been writing poetry since the 1990’s winning the inaugural Brendan Kennelly / Sunday Tribune Award in 2001 and gaining international recognition when awarded the Premio Cittá di Olbia prize in 2002. Swan Press published her debut collection Solas Sólás in 2003. Her second collection, Lifting Light, illustrated by her own artwork, sculpture and paintings, was published in 2015. She has worked as an Art Teacher, Arts Facilitator, and Art Therapist, has facilitated creative writing workshops, using art media as inspiration for generating work.
