The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The Sept 'On the Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 3 rd Sept 2013 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar , Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This month our guests are John W Sexton, Louis Mulcahy and Deirdre Hynes PLUS a 10 minute Play and Open-Mic. Deirdre Hines was born in Liverpool. She moved to Belfast shortly thereafter, and from there to Letterkenny in Co. Donegal, where she now lives. She graduated from Trinity in 1989 with a double honours degree in English and Theatre Studies. She has written several plays, of which “Howling Moons, Silent Sons” won the Stewart Parker Award fro Best New Play in 1992. She was short listed for the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2010, and won the Listowel Poetry Collection in 2011. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The July 'On the Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 2nd July 2013 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This month our guest readers are Noel King, Michael Gallagher & Terry McDonagh. Noel King was born and lives in Tralee. His poems, haiku, short stories, reviews and articles have appeared in magazines and journals in thirty-seven countries. His collections are published by Salmon Poetry, Prophesying the Past , (2010) and The Stern Wave ( 2013). He has edited more than fifty books of work by others. Michael Gallagher was born on Achill Island, worked in London for forty years and retired to Listowel in 1999. His prose, poetry, haiku and songs have been published in Ireland and throughout Europe, America, Australia, Nepal, India, Thailand, Japan and Canada. June 'On the Nail' Literary Gathering

The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The June 'On the Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 4th June 2013 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This month launch of Revival Literary Journal No.26 plus guest readers Carlos Reyes and Knute Skinner. Revival Literary Journal has been published in Limerick since 2009. The latest edition contains poetry, prose and reviews from local, national and international contributors. Knute Skinner lives in Lahince, Co. Clare. His most recent collection, Fifty Years: Poems 1957-2007 (Salmon Poetry), contains new work along with poems from thirteen previous books. His collection The Other Shoe won the 2004–2005 Pavement Saw Chapbook Award. A memoir, Help Me to a Getaway , was published by Salmon in 2010. Carlos Reyes is a noted poet, writer and translator. This months guests are Keith Armstrong and Joe Healy. Joe Healy is a member of Limerick Writers’ Centre and Listowel Writers' Group. Previous work has been published by Revival Literary Journal, Bare Hands, Crannog, The Clare Champion, also in thefirstcut and The Applicant online literary journals. In 2010 Joe was a featured poet in Sextet - A Revival Poetry Anthology published by Revival Press and also in Whitehouse Poet’s Poetic Humour. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The April 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 2nd April 2013 in The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This months guest are Barbara Smith and Monica Corish. Barbara Smith is a creative writing tutor living in Dundalk with her large family and equally large food bill. She writes in a tiny garret. Her poetry has won prizes and bursaries, including Scotland’s Wigtown Poetry Competition, Feile Filiochta and the Annie Deeney bursary at TGC, Ireland. Her reviews may be found in print and online. Barbara’s publications include Kairos, 2007 and The Angel’s Share, 2012, both with Doghouse Books. Monica Corish's first collection of poetry, 'Slow Mysteries', was published by Doghouse Books in June 2012. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The March 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 5th March 2013 in The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This month launch of Revival Literary Journal No.25 plus guest readers Fred Johnston and Mark Roper and open-mic. Fred Johnston was born in Belfast Northern Ireland,.educated there and Toronto, Canada, lived for a time in Spain and Africa and after that in Dublin. Currently he lives in Galway. He is author of a collection of stories from Parthian (Wales) 2011; and ‘Orangeman’, a collection of stories in French, from Terre de Brume (France) 2010. Johnston worked as a fulltime journalist, writer and sub-editor for some years for Irish Press. He teaches Creative Writing at NUIG (Adult Education).
