The July 'On the Nail' Literary Gathering

This month our guest readers are Noel King, Michael Gallagher & Terry McDonagh.
Noel King was born and lives in Tralee. His poems, haiku, short stories, reviews and articles have appeared in magazines and journals in thirty-seven countries. His collections are published by Salmon Poetry, Prophesying the Past, (2010) and The Stern Wave ( 2013). He has edited more than fifty books of work by others.
Michael Gallagher was born on Achill Island, worked in London for forty years and retired to Listowel in 1999. His prose, poetry, haiku and songs have been published in Ireland and throughout Europe, America, Australia, Nepal, India, Thailand, Japan and Canada. His writing has been translated into Croatian, Japanese, Dutch, German and Chinese.
He won the 2009 Samhlaiocht Poetry Slam, the 2010 Michael Hartnett Viva Voce competition; he was short listed for the Hennessy Award in 2011 and won the Desmond O'Grady International Poetry Contest in 2012. He recently launched his first collection Stick on Stone (Revival press0 at Listowel Writers Week. Michael edits thefirstcut, an online literary journal at:http://issuu.com/thefirstcut and is a founder member of Listowel's Seanchai Writer's Group.
Mayo born poet and dramatist, Terry McDonagh, www.terry-mcdonagh.com, lived in Hamburg for many years where he taught English at the University of Hamburg; was Drama Director at the International School, as well as writing regularly for the Hamburger Abendlatt. He has published five collections of poetry, a short novel for young people, a play and a book of letters. His work has been included in anthologies and journals worldwide. He has been writer in residence in Australia, Asia and in many European countries including Ireland.

Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don't write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.
