This month our guests are John W Sexton, Louis Mulcahy and Deirdre Hynes PLUS a 10 minute Play and Open-Mic.
Deirdre Hines was born in Liverpool. She moved to Belfast shortly thereafter, and from there to Letterkenny in Co. Donegal, where she now lives.
She graduated from Trinity in 1989 with a double honours degree in English and Theatre Studies. She has written several plays, of which “Howling Moons, Silent Sons” won the Stewart Parker Award fro Best New Play in 1992. She was short listed for the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2010, and won the Listowel Poetry Collection in 2011.
She has had articles published in various magazines such as “The Countryman”,”Ireland’s Own” and “Escape”.
John W. Sexton was born in 1958 and is the author of five poetry collections, the most recent being The Offspring of the Moon (Salmon). He is a past nominee for The Hennessy Literary Award and his poem The Green Owl won the Listowel Poetry Prize 2007. In 2007 he was awarded a Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship in Poetry.
Louis Mulcahy’s poetry has been accepted for publication in many journals including The Stinging Fly, The Stony Thursday Book and Revival and read on RTE1 and Lyric FM. He got to a short list of five for the Collection of Poems competition at Writers’ Week, Listowel in 2008 and 2010. In 2004 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the National University of Ireland. A collection of his Irish language poems was recently published.
Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don't write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.

Start 8pm This month our guests are writers Neil Donnelly and Linda Louise Galvin. Neil Donnelly was born in Tullamore, Co Offaly. He is a playwright, poet, screenwriter and writer for radio. His screenplays include Upstarts, The Silver Dollar Boys, The Duty Master. He was a Harvey's Award winner in 1982, writer-in-residence for Mayo County Council in 1993, and writer-in-association at the Abbey Theatre in 1994. Tullamore Train his debut poetry collection was published in 2011. His documentary on the life of Aidan Higgins 'Where Would You Like the Bullet?' is in progre ss. He is a member of Aosdana. Linda Louise Galvin is from Limerick. She began writing seven years ago by writing song lyrics, eventually focusing mainly on poetry. Her work straddles a diverse range of taboo subjects and humour. The Limerick Writers' Centre Presents The June 2015 'On The Nail' Literary Gathering Tuesday 2nd June 2015 @ The Loft Venue @ The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Start 8.00pm sharp! This months guests are writers Mike Gallagher and John McGrath. Mike Gallagher , writer, poet and editor, was born on Achill Island and worked in London for forty years before retiring to Kerry. His prose, poetry, haiku and songs have been published in Ireland and throughout Europe, America, Australia, Nepal, India, Thailand, Japan and Canada. His writing has been translated into Croatian, Japanese, Dutch, German and Chinese. He won the 2009 Samhlaiocht Slam, the 2010 Michael Hartnett Viva Voce competition, he was shortlisted for the Hennessy Award in 2011 and won the Desmond O'Grady International Poetry Contest in 2012.
