Organised by The Limerick Writers' Centre this popular monthly reading and open-mic continues to attract audiences with a mix of poetry, prose and music. This Months Guest Readers Bob Burke and Brendan Murphy . Bob Burke is originally from Ennis. He now lives with his wife and three sons in a small village with no pub just outside Limerick. Bob has dabbled in writing since he was very young but recently not only managed to finish something he’d started but actually succeeded in getting it published. The Third Pig Detective Agency (published by The Friday Project – an imprint of Harper Collins) is his first novel and follows the adventures of Harry Pigg, porcine sleuth and his attempts to track down a missing lamp for local businessman, Aladdin. Organised by The Limerick Writers' Centre this popular monthly reading and open-mic continues to attract audiences with a mix of poetry, prose and music. This Months Guest Readers Are Kate Dempsey and Fergus Costelloe. Kate Dempsey has had poems placed and published in various publications in Ireland and in UK and in competitions including The Hennessy New Irish Writing in the Sunday Tribune, Poetry Ireland, The Shop, Revival, Orbis, Abridged and Grist. She was also selected to read for Poetry Ireland Introductions and Windows Publications Introductions as well as at Electric Picnic, CastlePalooza and Flat Lake Festivals. She runs the Poetry Divas Collective who are available to read at all cool festivals. Fergus Costelloe is a performance poet from Tipperary. ...

'On The Nail' Reading @ The Locke Bar Thurs. 14th Jan 2010 8.00pm The monthly 'On The Nail' literary reading takes place Thursday 14th Jan 2010 at 8.00pm in The Locke Bar, George's Quay, Limerick. Organised by The Limerick Writers' Centre this popular monthly reading and open-mic continues to attract audiences with a mix of poetry, prose and music. This months programme starts with the launch of Revival Poetry Journal No.14 . Local, national and international poets are included and a number of them will read from the journal on the night. The special guest reader is poet John W Sexton who will launch and read from his new collection Petit Mal (Revival Press) during the evening. As usual music will be provided by Chris Wood and friends. Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . The Limerick Writers’ Centre presents ‘ On The Nail’ Christmas celebration of literature at The Locke Bar, Georges Quay, Limerick. Thursday 3rd December at 8.00pm. The Limerick Writers’ Centre continue their ‘On The Nail’ reading series with a special Christmas celebration of poetry, prose and music at The Locke Bar, George’s Quay, Limerick on Thursday 3rd December at 8.00pm. Everyone is invited to partake in this festive occasion. Poets, storytellers, musicians and writers of all hue and shade can read or play at our special Christmas open-mic. Even if you don’t write you are welcome to bring something along to read. This is also your chance to meet other writers and anyone interested in creative writing is welcome to come along on the night and meet with like-minded people.
