This month our guest readers are John Liddy, Celest Auge and in association with Foras na Gaeilge Padraig MacFhearghusa.
John Liddy is from Limerick but lives in Madrid. His poetry collections include Boundaries (1974); The Angling Cot (1991); Song of the Empty Cage (1997); Wine and Hope (1999); Cast-A-Net (2003); The Well: New and Selected Poems (2007); Gleanings from the Margins (2010). He is the founding editor along with Jim Burke of The Stony Thursday Book, one of Ireland’s longest running literary reviews (1975- ) along with Cyphers and organizes The Well/El Manantial, a weekend festival of poetry in Madrid with Matthew Loughney of The James Joyce Pub and The Embassy of Ireland.
Celeste Augé is an Irish-Canadian writer who has lived in Ireland since she was twelve years old. Her fiction and poetry have been widely published in literary journals and anthologies. In 2009, her poetry was short-listed for a Hennessy Literary Award and Salmon Poetry published her first full-length collection, ‘The Essential Guide to Flight’. In 2010 she received an Irish Arts Council Literature Bursary to work on her second collection of poetry. She won the 2011 Cuirt New Writing Prize for fiction. Her book ‘Fireproof & Other Stories’ was published by Doire Press in July of this year.

Thuill teideal-dán an chnuasaigh is déanaí leis, ‘Geasa’, duais idirnáisiúnta Cholmcille ag Béal na mBuillí in 2009. Tá sé ina eagarthóir ar Feasta, míosachán liteartha agus polaitíochta Chonradh na Gaeilge. Cónaíonn sé i dTrá Lí.
Pádraig Mac Fhearghusa’s first poetry collection, ‘Faoi Léigear’, was published by An Clóchomhar in 1980. ‘Mearcair’ (Coiscéim, 1996) and ‘An Dara Bás’ (2002), gained him premier Oireachtas poetry prizes. He has published an Irish language introduction to Freud and Jung, ‘Tóraíocht an Mhíshonais’ - The Pursuit of Unhappiness (Coiscéim, 1997). The title poem of his most recent collection, ‘Geasa’ (Coiscéim, 2011), gained him the international Colmcille prize at Strokestown in 2009. He is editor of Feasta, the literary monthly published by Conradh na Gaeilge. He lives in Tralee.
Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don't write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and admission is free. So join us on the night and make this event something special.
